The laboratory spaces are lit from the side and the sky and are accessible by a smallbridge connecting to the hall. Science here is treated as a noble and rarefied task.

Openings across the facade are opportunities to play with light in poetic and functional ways.

As an initial excercise we designed small light pavilions which allowed us the opportunity to focus on specific effects of light. This pavilion works as a reverse lantern, tracing the path of the sun through the structure.

A development of the lantern seeks to simplify the form and begin to add additional functions.

By pushing the form and serializing it creates modular laboratory spaces while stand alone structures create meeting areas and auditoriums.
